I've picked up a couple of sayings from talking to one of my best friends from ATL all the time. Soon enough I found myself beginning to say some of the things he does. But one in particular that is relevant to what I feel at the present moment stands out. It's something you say when you are done with something, have nothing else to say about something, something you won't be bothered with anymore, or something that is or you wish to no longer be a part of your life...you'd just calmly say "I'm over it!" Or if you're REALLY resolved about something, you'd say "I'm SO over it" for added affect.
I know everyone can relate to being in a test, situation, or circumstance that seems will NEVER end. You've exhausted all possible/logical measures to move on from it and yet you find yourself still there, dead-end, no way out. If you never even had much of a prayer life, it revived then cause you kept praying God would get you out of it. Only to your dismay, He leaves you in it.
If there's anyone who is currently in a situation such as this, I have good news for you! It DOES and WILL end. Not necessarily in your preferred timing, but it will end. Not necessarily like you played it out in your head, but it does end. Sometimes when people see what you're going through (like Job's friends), they think they know what you need, what you're supposed to do, what's wrong with you, what your remedy is and most times they don't even have a clue...because it's not their call. It's God's doing.
The reason why I can say in peace that "I'm over it" is because at some point I stopped fighting and let it take its course. Some things (bad or good) have to take its course, natural progression, no matter how you try to stop it or how bad you want it to end. And the more you fight, the longer it will take to allow it to naturally progress (or spiritually progress). It's like the world-famous Muhammed Ali vs George Foreman fight that I was watching last week. Ali used the perfect strategy to whip his opponent. And that was not to fight back. He threw a few punches here and there, but kept at his strategy, which was to have his opponent do all the fighting and exhaust himself until it was time to make the final knockout.
When you stop fighting, God starts moving. He starts showing you what you didn't see before. Even when the situation is not so calm, you are calm in it. You are calm enough to learn what is to be learned in it. Then He starts preparing you for your exit. God is so smooth with it too. I love the way He handles tough situations. If it were left up to us, all our hair would be lying next to us on the pillow when we wake up in the morning as a result of stress. But patience, forbearance, and long-suffering will take you through anything! And at the end you will be able to say with boldness "I'm SO over it!" :-)
