Step it up!

With Valentine's Day approaching, many of us will wait until the last minute, scrambling through vague greeting cards at the store for our loved ones.  It's 2011 folks!  By now we should be a year older, a year wiser, and a year more refined and swagtastic!  This is a challenge for you to find more ways to show your thoughtfulness to those near and dear to you...for no special reason at all!  I think we have become too lazy with each other.  So, I thought it would be nice to share a few tidbits of thoughtful gestures that could spark your thoughtful candles back up again.

  • A text message is cool, but a "thinking of you" card would warm the heart.
  • Even if she says she doesn't want anything, by default send her flowers...just in case!
  • Long distance?  Meet her at the airport with a teddy bear and flowers. (my bro taught me that one!)
  • Greeting cards are very nice & attractive, but an occasional hand-written note, he/she will save forever!
  • Order them lunch from a nearby restaurant and have it delivered to their job. It doesn't have to be steak.  A sandwich would suffice.
  • Have a basket made with all their favorite nick-knacks in it: chocolates, lotion, lip gloss, etc.
  • Get them that item they passed by the store and really liked, or that they mentioned they needed.  Show them you pay attention.
  • E-cards are fun to send to let someone know you are thinking of them.  Try this for someone you know spends a lot of time on the computer.  It'll brighten their day.
  • When you run out of fun, different things to do, use GOOGLE!  There's no excuse.  :-)
  • If someone is at odds with you and you want to make amends, don't assume they don't want to talk to you.  Send them something to let them know you're there when they are ready to talk - a card, flowers, a note.  Find other ways to reach out to them other than a text or a poke on Facebook.  Be creative in winning them over.

"I expect to pass through this world but once.  Any good, therefore, that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now, let me not defer it, nor neglect it.  For I shall not pass this way again." - anonymous proverb
