Hidden Talents

I've heard it said often that people who are gifted in many areas often find themselves stagnated. This happens as a result of them not knowing exactly which gift should be their main focus and given the most attention. So, what do they do? They sit there, either dibbling and dabbling here and there with them all, but never perfecting them or taking them seriously. Or they use none of them; instead waisting time doing things that makes them unhappy.

This has to be one of the most miserable, depressing states a person can be in; to know you have so many things to offer and not knowing how to utilize them to their greatest capacity and dispersing them all. Such as the servant described in Matthew 25:25. He was in a state of fear because he didn't put the talent given him by his master to proper use. And as a result he was considered an "unprofitable servant." While his peers whom received more talents than Him, went and grew their talents and were rewarded. The unprofitable servant only had one talent and he went and hid it. (Read Matthew 25:14-30)

I believe God wants us to be happy living life and serving Him. Ultimately, what He has put in us and gifted us to do will cause us to profit and make us happy...if we cultivate it properly. I found something that I'm really good at (in addition to the many other talents I discovered I have), but I never really wanted to do it. However, I'm beginning to realize that it wasn't necessarily the actual thing I didn't want to do. Instead it was the time, energy, and frustration required to cultivate it. To my surprise, that very thing I didn't want to do so many people are asking me for help to do. It's mind-boggling. So I'm trying to be a bit more open-minded. When you find your niche, it's best you cultivate it and see where it takes you. Although right now it doesn't show all the signs of great progress, with patience, diligence, and discipline, soon enough you'll see that green popping out of the dirt. And it doesn't stop there. Treat your other gifts and talents with the same care and soon enough you'll have your very own forest! But you can't hide what God put in you. To hide it tells God you are afraid and doubtful about His ability to operate His power through you by way of that talent He put in you.

So, while it may appear that those people who have many talents are more stagnant than those who have that one that profits them, on the contrary they are really blessed. And when it clicks in them what lies inside of them and how God will multiply all those talents, they will be unstoppable!

I agree wholeheatedly and just wanted to offer a little advice to help decide which of those many talents you should focus. "The essential conditons of everything you do must be choice, love, and passion". If any one of these is missing from any one of your many talents then that should not be one that you should put your main focus. Most expecially if their is no passion. Be sure to distinguish between desire and passion.

"Be sure to distinguish between desire and passion."

-that's good stuff because most people tend to confuse the two quite often. Thanx Auntie!
