Let's just be honest here folks. The truth is that being saved and living holy is not all "peaches n cream." Everything God asks us to do and requires of our lives is not always pleasant. It's a wonderful choice and comes with great blessings and results. However, the process is not filled with pleasure, doesn't always make sense right away, and doesn't always physically show promise of success (Hebrews 11:1 for the Bible Scholars who will attempt to disect my blog).
Perhaps I shouldn't be, but I'm annoyed by people who try to make tense like everything God says to them and everything God deals with them about is all rainbows and sunshine. Maybe it is and I'm just missing out on that part of it??? However, I think for the majority of us, we can all agree that this is not always the case. By no means do I mean we live a defeated life. In fact, on the contrary, although circumstances may arise that seem to tell us such, if we obey His voice, we are victorious. But victory never comes without pain.
Jesus himself prayed and asked God to let the cup of crucifixion pass from Him (Matthew 26:39). HA! If him, how much more me? However in that same passage of scripture, you'll find that soon enough God strengthened him in prayer to be able to accept what He had to do and he became resolved in it. Perhaps that's the state we never come to because we're so busy complaining about what we have to do and not allowing God the opportunity to help us be able to cope instead (I'm guilty!). Hmmm... What's so interesting about God is that He doesn't force us to do what He asks us to do. He is a gentleman. He lets you make that decision on your own, but in the meantime, he doesn't have a problem drawing you with his loving kindness, just like a man would a lady, in hopes that you would come His way. (That was a cute analogy, lol). Still, sometimes He needs to correct us (in love) to get to that place also, because we fall outside of His plan and time. And it ain't always pretty! (ouch)
Overall, I'm happy about my decision and although it gets rough, as life so often does, what gets me through it is knowing that if I choose to obey Him, the consequences of my obedience will reap a great reward. It never fails to. To add to that, obedience makes life so much easier. It really does. No, it doesn't always FEEL good, but in the end it IS good. So whenever you're faced with temptation to go against the calling and mandate of salvation for your life, remember these words: Obedience doesn't always FEEL good, but in the end it IS good.
And thanks, Ardo, for inspiring me to write this blog: :D
