To thine own self...

I've always been one to measure how I feel about myself based off of how others felt about me.  Wrong idea.  Decisions are too slowly made as a result of basing your timing on others' go or no-go.  If there's one thing I'd like to teach my nieces, nephews, and other young people it is to learn to develop and know their own voice.  Respect and appreciate the input of those who love you and have your best interest at heart, but be true to thine ownself.  You'll miss out on so many lessons and meaningful experiences for always waiting
on the approval of others.  People don't always need your approval or validation.  In fact, this stunts growth.  This goes for managers/employees, parents/children, and friends, etc.  Most times, we just need to be assured that whatever we choose, they'll still have our back.
