You Alone

Why didn't you hear Me when I spoke?
Now that I'm silent you choke.
Wrestling to know what it is I feel,
or if in My heart you still live.


Why didn't you see Me when I was there?
Now that I'm invisible you want to care.
Scrambling to replay old scences, thinking and
hoping I'll reappear in between your blinking.


You wait 'till the very last drop to appreciate a refreshing drink.
You wait 'till the very last crumb to finally say "It was good."
You take things forgranted that only by My blessings you have.
You neglect those closest to you whom you realize you really needed most.


After all these things, what is left?
No drink to satisfy your thirst.
No food to replenish your body.
No melodies to calm your spirit.
No pictures to satisfy your eyes.
Just you.  You and you alone.

Don't wait to call on Me when I'm no longer near.
Love Me, celebrate, Me, appreciate Me while I'm here.
